Wrestling Connection

Gary has been involved in wrestling since the age of five and competed for Woodbury High School in New Jersey, where he was a three-time District 29 place winner and three-time Region 8 qualifier.

Today, Gary is one of the nation's most respected collegiate wrestling officials. He is an NCAA Division I National Championship Official and has officiated in the Ivy League, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, EIWA, MAC, Pac-12, and Southern Conferences.

Gary was selected to officiate the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 2021 (St. Louis), 2022 (Detroit), and 2026 (Cleveland). During the 2026 Championships, he was honored to officiate the 197-pound National Championship match between Josh Barr and Cody Merrill.

In addition to his collegiate work, Gary has been a New Jersey high school wrestling official for more than 18 years and has officiated 14 New Jersey State Championships, including three individual state finals.

Gary is also a featured contributor on the New Jersey Mat Chat podcast, where he helps explain wrestling rules, officiating mechanics, and the finer points of the sport to athletes, coaches, and fans.
